Alu's third album is just as arresting and dark as her previous ones, and she's in fine voice throughout.

"At the Station" paints a nightmare vision to a jazzy backdrop with great confidence. "Beautiful Bureaucrat" is a kind of waltz, with Alu's soft voice acquiring a seductive edge. "Saint Damien" is a tense, string-laden reverie that sees Alu reach undeniable heights. She really has a way with these songs. Tom Waits' "The Part You Throw Away" gets a lovely reading, Alu really making the song her own.

She's made a beautiful, dark collection of songs that many people should enjoy.
