Jude Johnstone
Mr Sun
BoJak Records

Jude Johnstone plays a jazzy brand of music and her new album sees the singer make another memorable record. She has had an intriguing and varied career so far and this album should get her even more listeners. "Over Easy" has a relaxed mood and a lovely vocal by the singer. "Don't Tell Me That It's Over" is a piano ballad that happily recalls seventies songwriters like Carole King and Carly Simon. Johnstone's sensitive delivery really makes it work.

"Baby, Don't You Call My Name" is a bit more bluesy, the singer singing about a complicated relationship. "Winding Back My Heart" is just lovely, a flugelhorn adding a smoky blue note, the lead vocal all longing and sweetness. Jude Johnstone has made another album to be proud of.
