Fiona Joy Hawkins
ICE - Piano Slightly Chilled
Little Hartley Music

Fiona Joy Hawkins is a pianist who records largely unclassifiable music on her own label. Her new release blends new age, jazz and pop effortlessly. "Iced Rain" gets a special vibe by using a didgeridoo. The song has a neat filmic flavor and stands out on the album. "Antarctic Wings" is suitably calm and chilled, just as the title implies. It could soundtrack any penguin movie you'd care to make. "Frozen Rose" gives us a moment of suspenseful calm as Hawkins creates a jazzy an indeed cool song. She treats us to two vocal tracks at the end, "Snow Bird" is enchantingly sung and "Crystallised Love" ends the album on a sweet note.

Hawkins has made an immaculate album.
