Arcade
Into the Light
Wooden Man Records

This is an angular, arty but still kind of punky record. The all-female band is lead by Carrie Conley who has an impressively feral voice and a compelling guitar playing style.

"Butchwax" rocks fiercely but still has time to include rather sweet vocal flights. "No Good" is a straightforward song with a strong vocal by Conley. Joy Gerwe pounds her drums with abandon. "Holly" is musically soft but has dark words.

A frantic spoken word style is set to the hard rhythm of "Dirty Knees" to good effect. "Too Low" is like a song by early Throwing Muses and that's high praise.

Arcade are clearly a gifted band and this record is a testament to that.
