122 Greige
Moving Away From the Sun
Teenage USA

This is the first record from Toronto's low-profile trio 122 Greige - featuring local names like Matt Robinson, Adam Rosen and Chad Storie - even though they've been together for 10 years. The record is full of chiming guitars and deep and droning vocals. Although it has it's slow points, a lot of the songs are real winners. The melodies have spunk and the instrumentation never gets boring. Songs like Every Game You Play and Six of Seven are very consuming.

The only fault I can find with this band is that songs like Sepia and Gullible are not terribly original, and it's on these songs that the off-key vocals begin to briefly lose their charm. But for the most part, this is a pretty solid disc. The music is bursting with an unpretentious and pleasant disposition that is really quite refreshing. They definitely know what they are doing, and they are doing it well.
