The Sommers Rosenthal Family Band
Down The Road
American Melody

The family band is lead by Phil Rosenthal who has a long history of playing music. The new album is a nice blend of original songs and well-chosen covers. "I know what it was to be lonesome" is a fabulous bluegrass opener.

"Muddy Water" is a strong song, Rosenthal singing a powerful lead, and it has a well-written lyric about loss. "East Virginia Blues" has a gorgeous lead by Naomi Sommers, and it's a strong and well-played song that reveals the band at their best. "Where I don't Belong" is an old song that Phil Rosenthal revisits with striking results, and his best vocal on the record. It's a lovely record.
