Lucas Paine
Black Ram
LP/Self-released

Lucas Paine plays folk music with a very sparse sound, and his banjo really suits it well. "Black Ram Shuffle" is a sad, haunting tune that recalls Sixteen Horsepower's alternative country from the nineties.

"Elk River Blues" is a tune that benefits from the sparse sound. Paine has penned a gorgeous tune to evoke a sad mood. "Wings of Rusty Knives" is an up-tempo song with a great melody that he plays well. "Raleigh and Spencer" is a dreamy sigh of a song, it plays out well. This is a lovely album.
