Los Angeles Song Reader Show
Beck has just confirmed a special Song Reader show at Walt Disney Concert Hall on November 24th, which will see Beck along with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under conductor David Campbell, along with a line of special guests including Jarvis Cocker, Van Dyke Parks, Jon Brion, actor (and singer) John C. Reilly, actor/comedian (and singer) Jack Black (is he really funny?), singer/songwriter and (according to Spin magazine) a "...one-man soul-folk orchestra" Moses Sumney, actor/comedian and hip-hopper Donald "Childish Gambino" Glover, singer-songwriter Jenny Lewis (formerly the singer of Rilo Kiley), the Grammy-winning film music supervisor Randall Poster (he's been working on several of Wes Anderson's movies) - who's said to be the man "...making movies sing" (and "...the man with perfect taste"), plus several others. The guests will perform songs and stories inspired by Beck's Song Reader Book, so I guess it will be a memorable and entertaining evening.
2013 has been a 'busy' year for Beck, or...? Well, he's put out three singles, and even if it's good to hear from the man again, they're far from Beck at his best. A couple of weeks back it was announced that Beck had signed to Capitol Records and that he is planning (according to The New York Times) to release a new album, his 11th (not counting his ltd. ed. cassette only debut album Golden Feelings and the remix album Guerolito), called Morning Phase in February 2014. Let us hope for a happy new year. Right, Beck!?
