Tianna Hall and the Mexico City Jazz Trio
Two For The Road
Mighty Pretty Records

Tianna Hall and the Mexico City Jazz Trio have recorded an album of jazz standards and pop songs that sound just right.

"What Is This Thing Called Love" gets a spirited reading, that really shows off Hall's stunning vocals and the band's sublime dexterity. "They Can't Take That Away From Me" is given a nice treatment; the duet vocal by David Cacereres is as good as his saxophone bits. Radiohead's "Creep" gets a splendid, melancholy reading. Hall's vocals are as gorgeous as ever as the trio follows her lead expertly. "Good Morning Heartache" is rendered with sensitivity and style, Hall's soft vocals getting to the song's heart. It's a fine record all told.
