Derek Bishop
Resistance Is Beautiful
Self-relased

Derek Bishop's debut has a strong contemporary feel and a row of influences back and forth. Strident opener "Counterfeit" recalls a younger Rufus Waimwright in a good mood. "Harvey" is a great song, Bishop playing a near music hall track with a sharp lyric. "See You Free" is a Ben Folds-style song about a troubled relationship. The instrumentation is top notch here.

"Jackpot" ends the album on a good note, Bishop singing of a bright showbiz future. This album is just a step on the way there.
