Hudson K
Shine
Safety Line Records

Hudson K is the project lead by Christina Horn and this is their debut album. Opener "Fade" sees her and the band achieving perfect symmetry as they bash out a strong piano rocker with shades of Fiona Apple at her best. The title song sees Horn at her most intriguing, playing her piano with great dexterity and singing an enigmatic yet compelling lyric.

"I gave it all" is a dramatic ballad that has Horn at her most beautifully expressive. She plays some lovely piano parts, as the music gets truly wonderful. "Oh Whiskey!" is a raucous closer, a tribute to the drink in question that edges towards Dresden Dolls. It's a gusty move, and it sure pays off. It's a wonderful album.
