Call Me Loretta
Mountains and Rivers Between Us
Dead Bees Records

It's been a while since the last record by Call Me Loretta, though it's obviously time well spent since their sound is cool and the songs neat.

Opener "Summer Rain" sees them rock like the Fall and Sonic Youth can do. Stephanie's vocals are dreamy yet urgent. "Revenge of the Nerds" is a very indie rock title and one Call Me Loretta inhabit with pathos and wit. Their angular rock has never sounded better. "Each Dawn I Die" sees them approach a Pavement-like sense of eerie suspense with great skill.

"Same Story, Some Years Later" is a low-key track that the group mange to imbue with tension and character. It's a great record all told.
