Chrissy Coughlin
Look Ahead
Nature Girl Records

Chrissy Coughlin records pleasant but not edgeless Americana on her new album, and wonderfully so. "Back To You" sees the singer resembling a tougher version of Sheryl Crow. She sings a country tune with gusto.

"On the Surface" is a bright song with an almost funky backing; Coughlin's vocal lead is sweet and intimate. "Waif for you" is a slow, sad love song sung beautifully. Jobim's "Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars" gets an unexpected but cool reading. Coughlin's sensual voice is right at home here. Her new album is just lovely.
