The Retail Sectors
The First Step To End The Life
Hidden Shoal Recordings

Japanese outfit The Retail Sectors (a.k.a Kentaro Togawa) is new to me, but this extremely catchy and joyful single "The First Step To End The Life" (uh, did I say joyful...) - off the forthcoming Foregone Conclusion mini album - is a great foretaste for more splendid to come. I'll definitely check out some more of their (his) stuff.

Guitar manipulated electronica, with a velvety mild drum and bass curtain. Sounding like a happy New Order. Or, as this songs remixer, Si Begg, says: "Radiohead meets Philip Glass". Feelgood, cheerful, optimistic melancholia is just about the right thing when the Scandinavian winter is about to settle. Instrumental, danceable, extremely enjoyable.

As stated under influences on the Retail Sectors' myspace-site: 'the ordinary life'. I'd say a life less ordinary. GimmEMOre.
