Clare Burson
Thieves
self-released

Clare Burson has a lovely voice and puts it to good use on her new album. Her country-tinged music is very pleasing to the ear.

The title song is a low-key rumination in a Cat Power vein. "Always Be" is soft and mellifluous with Burson's voice taking focus. "Let Me Lose Me" is a hush of a song, of longing for the closeness love can bring. A spirited version of Lee Hazlewood's (R.I.P) "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" is simply great.

Clare Burson's new album is a delight and she must be great live.
