Simon Morel
Record 2
Wild Cat Records

Simon Morel follows his impressive pop debut with a second, equally impressive offering. Morel's pop roots lie in his native England, though he's based in Australia. This brisk, melodic record proves his hearts in the right place.

"As Time Goes By" (no, not that one) is a vaguely cynical goodbye to a former lover that told in the catchiest way possible. "Don't Give Your Love Way" is a sunny, persuasive song with a memorable chorus. It reminds me of Teenage Fanclub in their heyday. "Saving Grace" is a sweet little ballad that celebrates love and comfort.

"Sadness is a Small Town" has a nice title and an appealing mood. Morel's talent is apparent on this record.
