Rainbow Chasers
Fortune Never Sleeps
Talking Elephant Records

Ashley Hutchings has been in Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span so he has a bit of history. In this new band youngsters Ruth Angell, Jo Hamilton and Mark Hutchinson join him. The resulting album is pleasant folk-pop but perhaps as little too nice. Angell and Hutchison have nice voices but neither excels.

"Surrounded By Strangers" sees Angell at her sweetest and the backing ably supports her. "A Far-Off Bay" delivers the goods, joining modern folk with a slightly eastern tinge. Rainbow Chasers can be thrilling and here they are. "Think Of Me" is a pleasant, emotional song. Hutchings experience really shows. Rainbow Chasers plays it safe a little too often, but this is still nice listen.
