Giles
Blue Funk
May Tree Studios

Blues band Giles are fronted by the Dutch born Mark Koehorst. The often-used standard "CC Rider" is played more sultry and slow than what is usual. Koehorst plays his guitar in inspired fashion here. "Keep on dancin'" seems to give us a party track, but the dark words on an unjust world works against the upbeat music.

"So Much Pain" is a more conventional blues, but with its own unique spirit. "Watchdog" starts out with some Jimi Hendrix-like guitar work and soon Koehorst starts singing in a funky way.

"Blue Funk" should appeal to all blues enthusiasts and win the band some new fans as well.
