Alex Gomez
Always Never
Own label

Alex Gomez picks and plays a dirty distorted slide guitar, and sings with a wicked nasal voice that sounds like a cross between the mysterious and eccentric British Raven and ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons. Accompanied only by some kind of bass drum or more likely just his stomping foot. Stripped to the bone, this is hardcore stuff, like something George Thorogood or Johnny Winter could have done, but not for a whole album. Gomez plays competently and write his own material, but it's all been done more interestingly before. Still, if you're a fan of this formula and have at least one Hound Dog Taylor album in your collection, check out Alex Gomez.
